Can You Make the Connection?

Ha'aretz reports that on Thursday, IDF soldiers seriously wounded a 12-year-old Palestinian in the West Bank city of Jenin after mistaking his toy gun for a real rifle.

This is not the first time that soldiers have fired at someone holding a toy gun because they thought that it was real. Last year, a Palestinian boy was killed in Tubas, near Nablus, under similar circumstances. Such incidents have usually occurred on Muslim holidays.

Can anyone explain to me what possible reason there might be for Muslim children to be walking around with toy guns on Muslim holidays?

I thought Islam was a religion of peace?
